I think the reason for only 20yd nameplates was people complaining it wasn't fair in PvP, but HC has little to no PvP so it should be OK to allow 40yd nameplates on HC servers. Unfortunately all Era server settings are probably coded the same so I guess HC servers will be stuck at 20yd nameplates.
