The pinch detect goes through the DFI and if the DFI fails so does the pinch detect circuit leading one to think its the actual contacts being the problem when it isn't totally if the contacts are corroded. It turned out that the DFI and pinch sensors required replacement. My litter robot was out of warranty, but they sent me a free sensor replacement kit so I could replace it myself.
