Xfi pod not connecting

XFi wired connection slower than wifi. Hi, I currently have an internet plan for speeds up to 600mbps. I understand it is unlikely I will get that speed. However, my iPad on WiFi gets around 500 while my desktop can only manage about 240, half as much, on a WIRED connection. The NIC is 1Gbps capable..

Has anyone tried to connect 2 xFi pods together using an ethernet cable? Would it work? I do not mean connecting either pod to the main router using an ethernet cable (documentation states this is not supported), but one pod to another pod, and then the pod(s) would connect to the main router using WiFi.The pod alone wasn't enough as even though the pod is between my computer and the Gateway it won't connect to the pod, so I ran an ethernet cable from my comp to the pod hoping to get a better signal. However when I plugged it in all it says is Unidentified Network No Internet. I know the pod has internet it shows a few devices connected to it.
